Anxiety Pills

A love poem

Photo by Sharon McCutcheon on Unsplash

I think I need a pill.

My brain won’t stop.

My mind can’t make itself

up.

I think I need a pill.

It will take about an hour.

I’ll be able to hear the one decent

thought.

Maybe.

If I take a pill

I’ll write amazing words

Prose or poetry no matter.

If I take a pill

I’ll get out of my own way and step

on fear in the process.

Maybe.

I think I need a pill.

Because I don’t trust myself

to calm down enough

to write.

I think I need a pill.

But I probably don’t.

After all, I just wrote

this.
